Soldier wounded in clash with NPA rebels in Cagayan Valley – Nolcom

One soldier was wounded following clashes between government troops and communist rebels in Cagayan Valley, the military said on Tuesday.

The 17th Infantry Battalion figured with about 10 members of the New People’s Army led by Raymond Guzman also known as Gani/ Bladdy in Sitio Naruddukan, Barangay Abarriongan Uneg, Sto. Nino town past 3 p.m. Monday, Northern Luzon Command spokesman Lt.Col. Isagani Nato said.

“The NPA [guerrillas] suffered an undetermined number of casualties,” he said, adding that only one soldier was wounded in the encounter.

Earlier Tuesday, a five-minute firefight erupted between government troops and communist rebels in the same barangay but no casualty was reported.
