NBI hikes clearance fee to P130 starting next month
Starting next month, expect to pay P15 more for your National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearance.
Applicants starting March 12 will have to pay P130 for the clearance from the current P115 the NBI said in its advisory.
According to the NBI, the clearance fee increase was due to the increase in the documentary stamp tax (DST) following the implementation of the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law.
Under Section 12 of Revenue Regulations No. 4-2018, the rate of DST on certificates was increased from P15 to P30.
The provision also noted that under Section 188 of the TRAIN Law, a fee of P30 shall be charged for documentary stamp tax on certificates.
Revenues from the TRAIN law which took effect on December 19, will be used to fund the government’s various infrastructure programs.
