The lawyer who survived an ambush last week asked the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Wednesday to find out if there was a link between his case and the murder of a barista in Parañaque City last December.

In an interview with reporters at the NBI headquarters in Manila, lawyer Argel Cabatbat said that the mastermind behind the killing of Dan Joseph Alas and the foiled attempt on his life could be the same person.

Alas, Cabatbat said, was shot dead inside a coffee shop on Dec. 19 by motorcycle-riding men.
