P2M worth of whitening products seized in QC raid
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) agents backed by the police have seized P2 million worth of unregistered whitening products in Quezon City.
Armed with search warrants, the FDA with members of the District Special Operations Unit of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) raided the houses of Lilian Marte in Barangay Paltok and Michelle Cablayan in Barangay Bahay Toro, Radyo Inquirer 990 AM reported on Wednesday.
The QCPD said it also nabbed Daniel Castillo, Viel Anjoe Somidos, Mylene De Vera, Rommel De Vera, Mark Adrian Roces and Jeffrey Oserio during the raid.
Seized were boxes of skin whitening injectables such as Glutax 2000GS, Glutax 10000 and Aqua Skin EGF Whitening PROQ10 worth P2 million, the report said.
The suspects were selling unregistered whitening products online.
Article continues after this advertisementRandy Quiom, special investigator of the FDA Regulatory Enforcement Unit, said that possible buyers might experience side effects or allergic reactions on their skin.
Prior to the raid, the QCPD conducted a test buy of the products. The whitening products were turned over to the FDA to determine if they were registered.
The FDA said the suspects did not have a license to operate. /cbb
