Minutes after passengers of Metro Rail Transit line-3 (MRT-3) were forced to get off between stations in Mandaluyong City, commuters of the Light Rail Transit line 1 (LRT-1) were also offloaded due to a glitch Tuesday morning.

About 120 passengers of the LRT-1 were unloaded at R. Papa station at 6:40 a.m after a train suffered an “air pressure problem”, Line 1 operations manager Rod Bulario said.

LRT-1 operations went back to normal after 30 minutes, he said.

Eight minutes earlier, MRT-3 passengers walked on train tracks between Ortigas and Shaw Boulevard stations after a southbound train experienced an “electrical failure in (the) braking system.”

Aly Narvaez, media relations officer of MRT-3, said the cause of the service disruption was “worn out electrical sub-components” such as insulator, regulator, and main chopper. /cbb
