The remaining suspect in the killing of the Cainta deputy police chief was arrested in Taguig City on Monday.

Members of the Taguig Police Community Precinct 4 initially placed Ruben Paglinawan under arrest after he challenged people to a fight while drunk in Barangay Central Signal.

He yielded a 28-inch knife.

Senior Supt. Alexander Santos, city police chief, said that while under custody, Paglinawan kept on shouting and banging his head against the bars of his cell.

Policemen later verified that the 38-year-old suspect was one of those who killed Senior Insp. Jimmy Senosin, Cainta deputy police chief, during an operation in Rizal province on Feb. 11.

Paglinawan and another suspect, Germogenes Lachica, alias Ekis, exchanged fire with Senosin and three other policemen.

Senosin was hit in the head and declared dead hours later.

Paglinawan was also wounded in the back during the firefight.

The police said Paglinawan and Lachica were members of the “Highway Boys” gang who were guns-for-hire and involved in illegal drugs, theft and robbery.

Paglinawan faces charges of alarm and scandal, and illegal possession of a bladed weapon in the City Prosecutor’s Office. —Dexter Cabalza
