Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go reiterated on Friday he would not run as senator in the 2019 elections.
Go issued the statement after Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez said on Thursday that he would persuade the President’s trusted aide to join the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) senatorial slate.

“Inuulit ko po, hindi po ako interesado tumakbo sa Senado sa 2019. Magsisilbi po ako kay Mayor Duterte hanggang kamatayan, kung hindi man ako mauna,” he said in a statement sent to the media.
Go, however, said there was one thing which could change his mind.
“Pero kung tutuparin ni Speaker Alvarez ang pangako nyang kunin akong ninong sa kasal nya, baka mag bago po isip ko,” he said.
President Rodrigo Duterte had earlier urged Go to attend the Senate investigation on the P15.7-billion frigate deal of the Philippine Navy, saying it would be his aide’s “golden opportunity” to become a senator.
