5,000 watch Lapu’s Garbo
STREET dancing, a parade of decorated floats and dancing festival queens competed in the 11th Garbo sa Lapu-Lapu yesterday.
The Garbo was part of the activities leading to Monday’s Lapu-Lapu City Fiesta.
Lapu-Lapu City Police Chief Anthony Obenza estimated the crowd who watched and enjoyed the competition to be at 5,000.
The barangay Maribago contingent grabbed first place and P50,000 in the street dancing or Pasahalad category. Barangay Buaya took second place and P45,000 cash. Barangay Pajac the third place winner took home P40,000 cash.
The Pasahalad category is the part where the contingent dances in front of the judges in the main stage at GY Dela Cerna and GMC Arcade. The street dancing category is the contingent’s dancing in the street leading to the main stage.
Barangay Maribago also bagged the first place in the street dancing category, with barangay Pajo second, and barangay Buaya third.
