Tropical Storm “Basyang“ (internationally known as “Sanba”) is expected to make landfall over Surigao del Sur on Tuesday morning, the state weather bureau said.
Basyang maintained its strength as it moved closer to Northeastern Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Monday night.
Storm Signal No. 2 remained raised over the Caraga Region, which is composed of the following provinces:
- Surigao del Sur
- Surigao del Norte
- Agusan del Norte
- Agusan del Sur
- Dinagat Islands
Storm Signal No. 1 has been raised over the following areas:
- southern portion of Samar
- southern portion of Eastern Samar
- Biliran
- Leyte
- Southern Leyte

- Negros Oriental
- Negros Occidental
- Siquijor
- Guimaras
- Iloilo
- Capiz
- southern portion of Antique
- Camiguin

Basyang was last spotted 355 kilometers east-southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur. It was packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center with a gustiness of up to 80 kph.
Scattered to widespread moderate to heavy rains will prevail in the next 24 hours over Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula and the provinces of Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, Compostela Valley, and Lanao del Sur, Pagasa said.
Light to moderate with at times heavy rains are expected over Bicol Region, Romblon, and the rest of Mindanao.
