Garin ‘ready’ to face raps over Dengvaxia: My conscience is clear

Former Health Secretary Janette Garin on Monday said she is ready to face any case that will be filed against her in connection with the controversial anti-dengue vaccine Dengvaxia.

Garin is one of the respondents in the criminal complaint filed by the Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) and Vanguard of the Philippine Constitution Inc. (VPCI) before the Department of Justice (DOJ).

“I welcome the case. We are ready to face any of the charges because my conscience is clear. It’s better to transfer the venue of the debate in court and stop the hysteria being generated by misleading questions and conclusions,” she said in a text message to reporters.

She said because of the controversy, public health has been threatened.

“Our people do not deserve this. The proper forum can delineate facts, scrutinize experts and allow the truth to prevail,” she said. /je
