LUCENA CITY – A 42-year-old man was killed after his motorcycle crashed with another motorcycle in Infanta town in Quezon province over the weekend, police said on Monday.

Report from the Quezon police headquarters showed that the motorcycle that Daniel Basijan was riding on collided with the motorcycle being driven by Ernie Navarosa, 43, on the national highway in Barangay (village) Magsaysay around 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

Police said Basijan was driving fast and overtook a tricycle. He lost control of his motorcycle and consequently collided with Navarosa’s motorcycle coming from the opposite direction.

Rescuers rushed the two seriously injured drivers to Claro M. Recto Hospital but Basijan died along the way.

Police said both victims were not wearing helmets as mandated under Republic Act No. 10054, otherwise known the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.  /kga
