Lawyer who tagged Leila ‘mother of all drug lords’ appointed to PACC

President Duterte has appointed to the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) the lawyer who prepared the criminal complaint that tagged Sen. Leila de Lima as the “mother of all drug lords.”

In an order dated Feb. 7, Mr. Duterte named Eduardo V. Bringas as PACC executive director.

The President earlier appointed Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) chair Dante Jimenez as PACC chief.

The criminal complaint accusing De Lima of involvement in the illegal drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) was later filed by former National Bureau of Investigation deputy directors Ruel Lasala and Reynaldo Esmeralda.

“De Lima, acting as the mother of all drug lords and through the use of her authority, was able to appoint and designate men inside the [NBP] in order to ensure the perpetuation of illegal drug trade,” their complaint read.

De Lima is now detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame.  —PHILIP C. TUBEZA
