Suspected thief at airport caught in entrapment

Policemen at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport arrested during an entrapment operation in Pasay City on Thursday a suspected thief who stole a departing passenger’s Swissgear backpack containing an iPad tablet and seaman’s book at the Naia Terminal 2 departure area on Tuesday.

The suspect then contacted the victim and demanded P15,000 for the return of the seaman’s book.

Manila International Airport Authority general manager Ed Monreal said suspect Rhey Asumbrado was arrested shortly after accepting marked money from his victim, Bonifacio Legazpi.—JEROME ANING
