Spate of gun slayings unsolved in Pagadian

PAGADIAN CITY—Unidentified suspects on Thursday evening shot dead a 27-year-old tricycle driver while his 2-year-old son watched.

Supt. Benito Recopuerto, city police chief, said the victim, Morsid Macario Maliso, of Bulanit village in Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur, had parked his tricycle by the roadside in San Francisco District and was having dinner with his son when two gunmen approached and shot him around 7:50 p.m. Maliso died at the Pagadian City Medical Center around 10 p.m.

Maliso was the latest victim of gun attacks here. On Tuesday, Marcial Ortega, 70, was shot dead by still unidentified suspects.

Earlier on Saturday, gunmen riding in tandem on a motorcycle shot dead a 13-year-old boy who was going home from an internet shop.

On Jan. 18, Jovanie Mamawe Ajo was shot dead also by two men on a motorcycle. No arrests had been made in all of the cases. —LEAH AGONOY
