LUCENA CITY–Two men, both known here as notorious drug pushers, were arrested after they nearly killed another person in their village in Gumaca town in Quezon province Thursday night, police said Friday.

Chief Inspector Antonio Gutierrez, Gumaca police chief, said Anthony Ansus, 28, and his younger brother, Christian, 25, were arrested for allegedly stabbing Lawrence Samsun, 31, in Barangay (village) Maunlad around 8:30 p.m.

Police said the suspects suddenly attacked and stabbed Samsun with a knife and ice pick after a heated argument.

When frisked after the arrest, Christian yielded four small plastic sachets of crystal meth or “shabu” worth P925 in the street market.

Police suspected that the stabbing was related to a drug deal.

“Both suspects were listed in our drug watch. They had been jailed before on drug charges,” Gutierrez said in a phone interview.
