President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday ordered government officials to take economy class if they are travelling using the public’s money.

“Because it is not our money, so you take the cheapest,” Duterte said in a speech during the 116th founding anniversary of the Bureau of Customs in Manila.

The President issued this order as he slammed government officials for their unnecessary and lavish trips abroad.

He said officials who wanted to take business class for their flights should shoulder the extra charge from their own money. /je
