Malacañang belittled on Monday the call of Sen. Antonio Trillanes for a Senate investigation on the alleged unexplained wealth of President Rodrigo Duterte and the first family.
“Lumang tugtugin, lumang balita para nang sirang plaka,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a Palace briefing.
Roque was reacting to Senate Resolution No. 602 filed by Trillanes on Monday, requesting a Senate inquiry on Duterte’s alleged unexplained wealth.

Trillanes has been harping against Duterte’s wealth issue even before the May 2016 elections.
But the Palace official maintained that the President has nothing to hide.
“Wala pong tinatago. Ang tanong, anung dokumento ang hawak ni Senator Trillanes, eh wala naman siyang authenticated documents. Sinabi na nga ng AMLC hindi galing sa kanila ang dokumento at mali-mali ang datos na hawak-hawak ni Senator Trillanes,” he said.
In January, Duterte said he was open to an investigation amid reports questioning his wealth.

“That’s why I want Congress to proceed. Investigate. As a matter of fact, I’m the one insisting for you to know the truth. This endless suspicion. It’s about time that we face it. That’s why I’m hitting back. You can’t dig up anything from me,“ Duterte then said.
Trillanes said the Senate investigation was a “direct response” to Duterte’s challenge to Congress to investigate his bank records.
