Firefighters found the burned remains of a two-year old girl after a fire razed a residential area on K-7 Street in Barangay Kamuning, Quezon City on Tuesday.
The girl was identified as Kyla Nobrelaza, according to a report by Radyo Inquirer.
Kyla’s mother, Divina Nobrelaza, said she was washing some clothes outside their house when a huge fire broke out at around 1:00 p.m.
Divina said she panicked on seeing the blaze and immediately ran away, leaving her daughter who was sleeping at the second floor of their house.
The fire broke out at a house owned by a certain Jun San Juan, according to Supt. Manuel M. Manuel, chief of the Quezon City Fire Department.
Manuel said the fire may have been caused by faulty electrical wiring.
An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.
The fire destroyed about 10 houses where 20 families were residing.
Three persons also sustained minor injuries.
According to Senior Fire Officer 2 Francisco Mabunga of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) District V, the fire started around 1:05 p.m. and immediately reached the fourth alarm 20 minutes later.
