No special treatment would be given to former Customs commissioner Nicanor Faeldon while he is detained at the Pasay City Jail, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) said.
BJMP spokesman Senior Insp. Xavier Solda told reporters in a chance interview on Tuesday that Faeldon would be staying in a regular jail cell just like all other detainees.
“For the moment doon muna siya (Faeldon) mag-stay. Wala siyang (sariling) higaan. (May) matigas na higaan. Medyo masikip ang area namin sa taas. Meron kaming maliit na espasyo,” Solda said.
(For the moment, Faeldon will stay there. He won’t have his own bed. It’s a hard bed. Our area is a bit tight. We have a small space.)
“We would like to reiterate then na wala pong (no) special treatment na pwedeng ibigay ang (from) BJMP,” he added.
Faeldon was escorted by the Senate Sergeant at Arms to the Pasay City Jail on Tuesday morning after the Senate ordered his transfer from its detention area.

Senator Richard Gordon, chair of the Senate blue ribbon committee, said the transfer order was signed by Senate President Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel.
The transfer was made after Faeldon traded barbs with Gordon over, among other matters, parties that Faeldon supposedly held in his Senate detention cell.
“(Faeldon) will now be remanded to the custody of the Pasay City jail upon order of commitment by the Senate president, and it was agreed upon unanimously,” Gordon earlier said. /je
