CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—Two alleged high-ranking leaders of the New People’s Army (NPA) in northeastern Luzon were killed in a supposed Wednesday (January 24) gunbattle in San Manuel town in Tarlac province, the regional police in Camp Olivas confirmed on Thursday (January 25).
Victorio Tesorio and Lolito Raza fired at policemen and soldiers serving them arrest warrants in the house of Jose Dallente Caroy in Barangay (village) San Miguel.
Tesorio is allegedly the head of the Northeastern Luzon Regional Command of the NPA while Raza is said to be the head of the Danilo Ben Command of the Northern Front.
The warrants stemmed from five cases of frustrated murder and murder, multiple murder, attempted murder and rebellion filed against the two men.
The police said they recovered two guns, two hand grenades, a laptop and anti-government documents from the slain suspects.
Police charged Caroy, the house’s owner, for harboring criminals.
