A new batch of custom-built ambulances totaling 160 units was officially released for deployment on Monday by the Quezon City government, which now claims the distinction of being the local government with the largest ambulance fleet in the country.

Each of the city’s 142 barangays will get one ambulance, while the rest will be given to the Quezon City Police District, Bureau of Fire Protection, and the health department, according to QC Public Information Office chief Ares Gutierrez.

Each ambulance is equipped with an oxygen defibrillator, spine board, medical kits and a global positioning system (GPS), Gutierrez added. —Matthew Reysio-Cruz
