More than 1,000 passengers of a northbound MRT-3 train were offloaded on Tuesday evening in Pasay City due to a system problem.

An MRT-3 report showed that the train dropped off 1,134 commuters at the northbound portion of Buendia station after it encountered an “ATP failure” at 6:07 p.m.

The service disruption was caused by “worn out ATP sub-components” like ATP board and ATP sensor, the report said.

ATP stands for “automatic train protection.”

Affected passengers rode on a different train that arrived 10 minutes after.

Earlier, the MRT-3 also experienced a “braking system error” at 11:53 a.m. that unloaded its 500 passengers at the northbound portion of Santolan – Annapolis station. /je
