Malacañang on Monday belittled and then poked fun at the call of Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founder Jose Maria “Joma” Sison, for the youth to stage mass protest against President Rodrigo Duterte.
“We don’t attach too much importance on Joma Sison. I hope he has enough grandchildren to heed his call,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a palace briefing.
In an online interview with the Inquirer, Sison called on the youth to emulate the riots of the “First Quarter Storm” (FQS) of 1970 against the Duterte administration.

Roque laughed off Sison’s call.
“Problem with Joma Sision is he is stuck in history. He never moved beyond the First Quarter Storm,” he said.
On Sunday, Duterte said the communist movement has become irrelevant, adding that the public has been questioning the sincerity of their cause.
Sison earlier confirmed that a phone conversation was set to happen between him and Duterte.
