Jobless man arrested for burning own house, threatening to shoot firemen
Police have arrested a jobless man in Pasig City after he set his own house on fire and threatened to shoot fire fighters.
In a spot report, Pasig City police said Albert Torreon, 47, married and jobless, burned his house along Summer Ville, Virginia Street in Barangay Pinagbuhatan at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
Responding fire fighters snuffed out the blaze and declared the fire out about 10:45 a.m., the police said.
However, Torreon wielded a .38 caliber revolver and threatened to shoot fire fighters and anyone else who would try to enter his house. He reportedly fired his weapon around noon.
About two hours later since the standoff occurred, Torreon surrendered peacefully to Police Senior Supt. Orlando Yebra Jr., Pasig City chief of police, the report said.
The firearm, as well as four live ammunition and one spent shell, were seized from Torreon, according to the report.
