1 dead, 1 hurt as tricycle collides head on with truck in Laguna

SAN PEDRO CITY—A tricycle driver died while his passenger was wounded when they accidentally hit an incoming truck in Los Baños town in Laguna province on Friday afternoon.
The fatality was identified as Noel de Vera, 22, a resident of Barangay Bambang in Los Baños. His passenger, Jessa Mangana, 27, was brought to the hospital.
Los Baños police chief Supt. Alex delos Santos, in a text message, said the accident happened around 3 p.m. along national highway in Barangay Lalakay.
The tricycle was headed north toward Calamba City when they were hit by a truck from the opposite lane of the highway.
The truck driver identified as Francisco Cabigas, 43, from Meycauayan, Bulacan is in police custody.
Delos Santos said investigation is still ongoing. /jpv
