Village exec nabbed anew over 2007 slay of Laguna lawyer
SAN PEDRO CITY—A village chief in Calamba City was arrested for the second time by members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) over the 2007 murder of a lawyer in Laguna province.
Police said the arrest warrant against Florencio Morales Jr., village chief of Real, was issued by Judge Glenda Mendoza-Ramos of the Regional Trial Court Branch 36 in Calamba, in relation to the 2007 murder of lawyer Demetrio Hilbero.
Hilbero, then Integrated Bar of the Philippines chapter president, had just stepped out of church when he was gunned down near his law office in Calamba.
The CIDG, in 2015, arrested Florencio but he was released after filing an appeal.
His alleged accomplices, Primo Lopez and Sandy Pamplona, were arrested in 2011. —MARICAR CINCO
