/ 09:56 AM January 17, 2018

Supreme Court (SC) officials are back at the House of Representatives as the justice committee resumes its impeachment hearing against Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno on Wednesday.

The House committee chaired by Oriental Mindoro Rep. Reynaldo Umali has been conducting the hearings to determine the probable cause in the impeachment complaint filed by lawyer Larry Gadon against the country’s top magistrate.

Among the officials who attended were Court Administrator Midas Marquez, En Banc clerk of court Felipa Anama, deputy clerks of court Anna-Li Papa-Gombio and Corazon Ferrer-Flores, and SC procurement head Carina Cunanan.

Umali said the officials will be asked to shed light on the allegedly luxurious travels and purchases of Sereno using public funds.

The House panel also subpoenaed two doctors to testify on Sereno’s supposedly poor psychological exam results, but the physicians have yet to respond to the summons.  /kga
