3 AdC teams advance to semifinals
Three teams from the Ateneo de Cebu (AdC) advanced to the crossover semifinals of their respective categories in the ongoing Cebu Amateur Football Club (CAFC) 11th National Interclub Football Cup held in three different venues in Cebu City.
The Magis Eagles clinched semifinals tickets in the players 10, boys 12 and boys 14-Under categories.
In the boys 14-Under at the San Roque football field, AdC will face group A top-placer Mandaue Technical Institute (MTI) after finishing at the second spot in group B.
The other semifinals match will be contested by group B top finisher Abellana National School (ANS) Pomeroy and Ormoc FC.
AdC lost the group B top spot to ANS Pomeroy on goal difference (GD) after both teams tallied seven points for winning two matches apiece. Both teams ended their elimination match against each other in a scoreless draw. ANS had a GD of nine while AdC ended with seven.
In group A, MTI nailed the top spot with nine points after winning all three of its elimination assignments. Ormoc trails at second after dropping one of its three elimination matches and tallying only six points.
In the boys 12-Under held at the Springdale football field, AdC advanced to the semifinals after topping group A with nine points.
It will face group B second finisher Springdale, which lost out the top spot to San Carlos City’s Los Amigos FC on GD. Los Amigos had four after routing Canduman FC, 3-0, in its final eliminations match. Springdale accumulated only two.
Los Amigos will face Danao FC for the remaining finals ticket.
Article continues after this advertisementDanao trailed AdC with six points after winning two of its elimination matches. AdC copped its third win after blanking Masbate’s Aroroy FC, 3-0.
In the players 10, AdC advanced to the semifinal round for sweeping its three elimination matches. It will face Queen City United (QCU) while the other semifinals match will have San Roque Royal United (SRRU) versus Danao FC.
QCU notched its third win at the expense of Canduman FC, 4-1.
In the men’s open, Bohol’s B-MEG remains in contention after scoring its first win with a 3-0 blanking of Count FC.
QCU, on the other hand, assured itself of a semifinals ticket with a 4-2 win over Northern Samar’s Hijos del Pueblo.
In the 40-above, QCU-B finally bagged its first win in the tournament with a lopsided 3-0 win over Erco FC.
In the boys 17-Under, USC-TC showed its sister school USC-NC no mercy with an 8-0 annihilation. ANS Pomeroy remained unchallenged with a 2-1 edging of Manila Soccer Academy (MSA). Springdale had another draw this time against Blessed John at 3-all. Ormoc FC squeaked past AdC, 3-2, for a come from behind win.
In the distaff side, Aroroy FC earned the right to face USC in the championship with a 3-0 demolition of QCU.
