President Rodrigo Duterte went to Baguio City on Wednesday to serve as the principal sponsor at the wedding in Baguio City of Director Gregorio Pimentel, head of the Directorate for Intelligence of the Philippine National Police (PNP). and Social Welfare Assistant Secretary Michelle Ortega, a former singer.
Photos sent to the media by special assistant to the president Christopher “Bong” Go showed Duterte, wearing a navy blue suit, with Sen. Vicente Sotto III, who also served as a sponsor.
Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos was also in the photo, while Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II was in another photo.
It was not the first time Duterte served as a sponsor in a wedding as President.
In September 2016, Duterte was a sponsor at the wedding of Waldo Carpio and Regine Go at the San Agustin Church in Manila.
Waldo is the brother of Manases Carpio, who is the husband of presidential daughter Sara Duterte-Carpio, the mayor of Davao City. /atm
