DAVAO CITY–Third district Councilor Bernard Al-ag has presided over the Sangguniang Panlungsod’s first session for the year but said he had not officially assumed, or officially took his oath of office yet, to function as the city’s vice mayor.
Al-ag’s ascension to the vice mayoral post was brought about by the resignation of Presidential son Paolo Duterte on Dec. 25.

President Duterte on Friday accepted Paolo’s resignation.
Al-ag said he was still awaiting his formal assumption – being the most senior SP member – and that he had not taken his oath of office yet.
Vicky Sarcena, the head of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in the city, would be administering Al-ag’s oath of office to official declare him the new vice mayor.
Al-ag could not say for sure when he would be formally assuming office as vice mayor.
But he said a few changes in the chairmanship of various committees had been expected because he would be relinquishing those chairmanships when he becomes the vice mayor and the presiding chair of the SP.
“I will be vacating the position of floor leader and as chairman of the committee on rules so there will be few changes,” he said. /jpv
