DOLE to launch livelihood project for displaced women overseas workers

THE Department of Labor and Employment in Central Visayas (DOLE-7) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration-7, through the National Reintegration Center for overseas Filipino workers, will launch today the “Balik Pinay, Balik-Hanapbuhay” project for OFWs at the OWWA regional office on M.J. Cuenco Avenue, Cebu City.

OWWA-7 information officer Rudylyn Gimena said the project will provide skills training to women OFWs who were repatriated, including those displaced due to conflicts in the Middle East.

The project aims to improve the socioeconomic conditions of women OFW-returnees.

Gimena said the trainees will be provided with starter kits for their livelihood undertakings.

The first batch of 50 women OFW-returnees in Central Visayas will be trained on Thai massage.

OWWA Regional Director Wilfreda Misterio and DOLE-7 director Exequiel Sarcauga will grace the launching ceremony.
