Multitudes await Black Nazarene at Quiapo Church

While the procession of the Black Nazarene image makes its way around Quiapo district in Manila, at least 350,000 devotees wait for its arrival and attend the hourly mass at the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene, popularly known as Quiapo Church.

By 10 a.m., the Plaza Miranda Police estimated that the number of crowd inside and outside of the church reached 350,000, but they expect it to increase until the Black Nazarene image returns to the basilica.

The Latin-rite Quiapo Church is one of the Roman Catholic’s prominent places of worship in the country.

As of 11:28 a.m. Tuesday, the andas (carriage) of the Black Nazarene image has reached Jones Bridges in Binondo.   /kga
