Passenger stops LRT-1 train after pressing emergency button

A train of the Light Rail Transit-1 (LRT-1) stalled on Friday after a passenger pressed its emergency button.

The incident happened around 9:45 a.m. between 5th Avenue Station and R. Papa Station of the LRT-1.

“He activated the door maybe because his companion was left behind so the train suddenly stopped,” said Rod Bulario of the Light Rail Manila Corporation.

According to Bulario, when the train supposedly ‘normalized’ the button, the train no longer responded.

“The train did not move so we hauled the train going to the Central where we have stabling tracks for the train to be repaired,” Bulario said.      /kga
