DID YOU KNOW: From Puente Colgante to Quezon Bridge

/ 06:25 AM January 04, 2018

On Jan. 4, 1852, Puente Colgante, the first bridge built over Pasig River in Quiapo, Manila, was inaugurated.

It was commissioned by Jose Joaquin de Ynchausti, managing director of Banco Español-Filipino de Isabel II, as commercial activity thrived in Binondo.

Later replaced by Quezon Bridge, it was also considered the first steel suspension bridge in Southeast Asia. —Marielle Medina
