‘Agaton’ forces evacuations, sea travel ban in Surigao, Caraga

DAVAO CITY – At least 81 people evacuated in Surigao City as rain and wind from tropical depression “Agaton” intensified, officials said.

The evacuees were receiving assistance, according to the Surigao City social welfare office.

At the Lipata Port, also in Surigao City, passengers bound for Southern Leyte were stranded after authorities barred sea travel.

Across the Caraga Region, hundreds of other passengers bound for the Visayas and other places were also stranded in various ports due to the ban on sea travel. /cbb
