The Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT 3) welcomed 2018 with yet another train breakdown, affecting hundreds of passengers.
A southbound train unloaded 300 passengers at Guadalupe station shortly after noon on Monday.
The MRT 3 management said the train encountered electrical failure in its motor, possibly due to the “worn-out electrical subcomponents.”
The breakdown occurred even when there were fewer passengers using MRT 3 since it was a holiday.
The lack of available spare parts is one of the reasons why the trains often break down, the Department of Transportation said. —Jovic Yee
