MPD issues traffic rerouting scheme for Nazarene procession on Dec. 31

The Manila Police District (MPD) has advised motorists to take alternate routes on Dec. 31 due to the thanksgiving procession of the Black Nazarene.

Closure of major roads

In a traffic advisory issued Friday, the MPD’s Traffic Enforcement Unit that three major roads would be closed 1:00 a.m. onwards:

  • Southbound lane of Quezon Boulevard (Quiapo), from A. Mendoza/Fugoso to Plaza Miranda
  • Eastbound lane of Recto Avenue from Rizal Avenue to SH Loyola Street
  • Westbound lane of España Boulevard from P. Campa to Lerma Streete
Rerouting of vehicles

In addition, all vehicles coming from España Boulevard bound for Roxas Boulevard, South Pier Zone or Taft Avenue are advised to turn right to P. Campa Street, then toward Fugoso Street.

Motorists coming from A. Mendoza St. bound for Quezon Boulevard are advised to turn right to Fugoso Street and then left to Rizal Avenue.

Those traveling eastbound lane of C.M. Recto Avenue from Divisoria are advised to turn right to Rizal Avenue.

For vehicles traveling on S.H. Loyola Street from Balic-Balic area bound for Quiapo are advised to turn right to Recto Avenue.

Route of the procession

The procession from Quiapo Church would traverse these roads:

  • Plaza Miranda
  • Left to Quezon Boulevard
  • Left to G. Puyat Street
  • Right to Evangelista Street
  • Right to CM Recto Street
  • Right to Loyola Street
  • Right to Bilibid Viejo Street
  • Left to Gil Puyat Street
  • Left to ZP De Guzman (Mendoza) Street
  • Right to Hidalgo Street
  • Left to Bautista (Barbosa) Street through Globo De Oro Street
  • Left to Quezon Boulevard under Quezon Bridge through Palanca Street
  • Right to Villalobos Street
  • Straight to Plaza Miranda up to Quiapo Church
