Start-up assistance

CEBUANO start-up entrepreneurs can get help from  a small firm whose clients include known Cebuano commercial establishments.

Carlo Borromeo said he and his partners set up Maverick Ideas to cater to this set.

“Cebu is the fastest growing economy in the country,” he said in a press conference.

“Tourism and outsourcing industries have helped provide many people with  higher purchasing power, which encourages the birth of more enterprises,” he said.

Borromeo, the agency’s creative director, said they assist companies  during their  conceptualization stage, creative processes, growth and maturity.

At present they serve Cebuano brands like Biano’s Pizzaderia, Parkmall and Cotton City.  Reporter Aileen Garcia-Yap

More Chevron gas stations

Major oil industry player Chevron Philippines Inc. will open 125 new gasoline stations in the country worth P625 million over  the next five years.

Toby Nebrida, Chevron Philippines Inc. manager for communications and government relations, said the country is a major growth area for their brand.

He said Chevron will build 400 more gasoline stations in the Asia Pacific region.

“Of these 125 new stores, we will allocate a significant number of stations  in Cebu, which is a major market in the country,” Nebrida said in a press conference.

Cebu province has 33 Chevron gas stations with 850 stores nationwide.

Nebrida said Chevron  remains confident of their brand despite the growing number of  fuel players in Cebu.

RESORTS WORLD  showcase

Major hotel chain Resorts World Manila is positioning itself as the “jump-off” point to other  leisure destinations in the country like Cebu.

The hotel will have  a month-long event starting Dec. 1 dubbed “Grand Fiesta Manila 2011.”

The event will promote  Filipino culture through famous festivals like Cebu’s Sinulog.

“We want to become the jump-off point where tourists learn more about what the Philippines and the Filipinos can offer,” said   Resorts World Manila PR Manager Archie Nicasio in a press conference in Cebu.

Resorts World Manila has three hotel chains including Maxims Tower, Marriot Hotel, and Remington Hotel, the biggest gaming facility.

They also operate a performing arts theater, four cinemas and other facilities.
