Death toll in Lanao Norte floods rises to 81

SALVADOR, Lanao del Norte – More bodies were piling up in Lanao Del Norte as the search and retrieval operations for missing flood victims continued for three days now.

The provincial total was now 81 with the recovery on Monday of three more bodies here.

The bodies were that of a 10-year old girl, a 21-year old woman and a 60-year old man, according to Rodel Maghinay, the municipal disaster risk reduction and management officer.

The death toll from floods spawned on Friday by Severe Tropical Storm “Vinta” here alone was now 47.

Mahinay said six more people from two villages here remained missing and searchers were continuing the operations to locate them.
