Silliman student tops provincial statistics quiz

DEAN Alvin Macasilhig, a BS Mechanical Engineering freshman student of Silliman University (SU), was the provincial winner in the recently concluded 20th Philippine Statistics Quiz (PSQ) held at Foundation University.

First runner-up was Neil Tinaytina, a BS Geodetic Engineering from Negros Oriental State University (Norsu). Kristin Monikka dela Viña, also from Silliman, won second runner-up.

National Statistics Office (NSO) Provincial Census officer Ariel Fortuito said the three winners will represent Negros Oriental in the PSQ regional level today in Cebu City.

At stake for the winners in the national finals are cash and trophies.

All regional champions will also be awarded during the national finals with a PSQ medal and a certificate of recognition. Their respective coaches, colleges and universities as well as the high school where they graduated from will also be given certificates of recognition.
