Right diet for kids engaged in sports to be tackled on Dec. 3 symposium

THE Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu aims to contribute to the progress of Cebu sports and fitness by bringing together four different speakers who are experts in the fields of sports, fitness, education and nutrition in a one-of-a-kind gathering called “KIDS: Keynotes on the Intelligence, Diet and Sports of your kid.”

The event, which happens on Dec. 3 at the SHS-AdC gym, was formally launched in a press conference held at the Cebu Country Club. Present were event organizers led by Millette Chiongbian and SHS-AdC athletic director, Rico Navarro.

The guest speakers during the said event are Olympic athletic trainer, Smart Gilas strength and conditioning coach and Biggest Loser Philippines trainer, Jim Saret, who will talk about “Development of a Star Athlete.” Also there, will be Far Eastern University strength and conditioning coach Eski Ripoll whose talk is entitled “Getting Your Kid in Motion,” and his wife, FEU sports nutritionist Belay Ripoll, who will talk about “Optimal Nutrition for Optimum Performance.”

However, the star of the show will be celebrity and current national team member, Chris Tiu, whose talk will be about “Balancing Sports and Academics.”

“SHS-AdC has set big goals for the school’s sports programs. But at the same time, we want to promote a holistic and healthy student-athlete lifestyle, which is why this event is not exclusive to Ateneo,” said Navarro during the press conference.

The organizers, part of which are the parents of SHS-AdC’s swimming team, want to reiterate that the seminar is open to everyone interested. The entry fee is pegged at P100 each.  /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
