Alcano to square off with Peach

Filipino cue master Ronato “Volcano” Alcano and Britain’s Daryl Peach rekindle their pool rivalry as they clash in the Philippine Bigtime Billiards (PBB) Face Off Series dubbed “The Dazzler and The Volcano” on Saturday at the PAGCOR Airport Casino in Paranaque City.

“Dahil bisita natin si Daryl, balak ko paupuin siya at panoorin niya na lang ako dito sa PBB,” said the 39-year-old Alcano, a former WPA World 9-ball and 8-ball champion.

“Talagang pinaghandaan ko ito sa katunayan ay 50 racks a day ang ginagawa kong pagsasanay,” added Alcano.

However, Peach, an ex-World 9-ball champion, said he is equally ready for his 4th encounter with the Filipino ace.

“I eat 10 balls for breakfast,” said Peach.

Peach defeated Alcano in the 2006 International Pool Tour (IPT) in Las Vegas, Nevada and in the 2007 World Pool (9-ball) Championships in Manila. But Alcano bounced back by beating Peach in the 2007 World 8-ball Championships in the United Arab Emirates.

The winner will get $5,000 cash in the race-to-9, 10-ball, winner’s break format event, jointly organized by the Mega Sports World and BRKHRD Corp. The loser will get $2,500 in the event aired live over Solar Sports, Sky Channel 70 and Destiny Channel 34 and also aired worldwide through the internet at www.starbilliards.com.ph, www.megasportsworld.com and www.philippinebigtimebilliards.com.

Peach is also set to face World 9-ball champion Francisco “Django” Bustamante on Nov. 26. Bernardino
