A 5.1 magnitude earthquake jolted Surigao del Norte Sunday evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The tectonic quake was recorded 36 kilometers northeast of Burgos town at 10:32 p.m. It had a depth of 14 kilometers.
The tremor was recorded at the following intensities:
Intensity IV – Burgos, Pilar and Dapa, Surigao Del Norte
Intensity III- Dinagat and San Jose, Dinagat Islands
Intensity II – Surigao City and Socorro, Surigao Del Norte
Instrumental Intensity:
Intensity II – Surigao City
Intensity I – Borongan City, Eastern Samar
No damage was expected from the quake but aftershocks are possible, Phivolcs said. /cbb
