Suspension of classes in Sorsogon, Camarines Sur, Albay extended as ‘Urduja’ nears Bicol

LEGAZPI CITY – Suspension of classes in Sorsogon, Camarines Sur and Albay provinces were extended until Thursday and Friday as Tropical Depression “Urduja” threatens Bicol region.

Sorsogon Gov. Robert Lee Rodriguez said classes in pre-school and elementary levels in both public and private schools on Thursday and Friday were suspended.

In Albay, Gov. Al Francis Bichara extended the order of suspension of classes he declared for Wednesday until Thursday.

“The suspension of classes will remain since the province is still threatened by the Tropical Depression which is expected to affect Bicol on Friday,” Cedric Daep, head of Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office, said.

In Camarines Sur, Gov. Miguel Luis Villafuerte has yet to lift the suspension of classes that he announced also for Wednesday.

The Office of Civil Defense Bicol also advised fisher folk and those with small seacraft not to venture out over the eastern seaboard of the region due to rough seas.
