DID YOU KNOW: Rizal’s trial began on Dec. 6, 1896

On Dec. 6, 1896, the trial of Dr. Jose Rizal on charges of rebellion, sedition and conspiracy began.

Rizal was implicated as the mastermind of the revolution against Spain and charged as a traitor.

He was first imprisoned in Barcelona and later sent back to Manila to stand trial.

He was executed on Dec. 30, 1896. —Marielle Medina
