477 out of 7,227 bar takers fail to complete exams

And then there were 6,750.

The grueling four-Sunday bar examinations ended yesterday with 477 examinees opting to quit what was widely touted as the country’s most difficult professional licensure test.

According to the Office of the Bar Confidant, a total of 7,227 law graduates were allowed to take the annual bar exams held at the University of Santo Tomas during the four Sundays of November.

However, 468 of the aspiring lawyers did not show up on the first day of the exams on Nov. 5 while nine others skipped the next two batches of the tests which were administered by the Supreme Court.

Higher than 2016

The high tribunal’s public information office said the 6,750 examinees who completed the bar exams were still higher than the number of law graduates who finished the tests last year.

In a post on his personal Twitter account, Supreme Court spokesperson Theodore Te, also a former bar examiner, said yesterday’s tests on remedial law covered “codal provisions and basic jurisprudence.”

“Easy 20 (percent) for examinees, IMO (in my opinion),” Te tweeted.
