/ 05:00 AM November 27, 2017

Social Welfare Week is observed from Nov. 25 to Dec. 1 by virtue of Proclamation No. 1205 signed on Nov. 14, 1973, by then President Ferdinand Marcos. According to the proclamation, social work creates opportunities for individual groups and communities to develop their potentials to promote their own well-being and contribute to national development. It added that efforts for social and economic development must go hand in hand with social justice to attain full human development and national progress. —Marielle Medina
