Taguig hikes cash for seniors

/ 04:50 AM November 25, 2017

The Taguig City council has passed an ordinance approving an increase in the birthday cash gifts for resident senior citizens. Under Ordinance No. 25, series of 2017, they will be receiving P3,000, P4,000 and P5,000, depending on their age bracket (60-69; 70-79; and 80 and above, respectively). The increase, which will take effect in January 2018, is the second to be approved by the council since the cash gifts were first given in 2008 at P500 per celebrator. In 2013, the amount was adjusted to P1,000. The city’s seniors also get a P1,500 social pension every quarter. Those who become centenarians receive P100,000, plus the same amount every year after their 100th birthday.
