Sandiganbayan resolves 925 cases in 9 months

The Sandiganbayan has disposed of 925 cases in just the first nine months of 2017 compared to 924 cases  from 2014 to 2016.  The 925 disposed cases involved 504 officials and private individuals.

More than half were cleared while the cases against 254 were dismissed.

The Office of the Ombudsman withdrew cases against 31 accused.

The Sandiganbayan archived the cases against 59 others, many of them had gone at large. For those that went through trial, 99 defendants were acquitted.

Twelve accused pleaded guilty to the charges, and 49 were convicted after a full-blown trial. —Vince F. Nonato
