Flights called off due to bad weather

Inclement weather prompted the cancellation of some flights on Thursday, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said.

In an MIAA advisory, the following domestic flights were cancelled:

PAL Express 2P 2021: Manila-Masbate

PAL Express 2P 2022: Masbate-Manila

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasas) is tracking a low pressure area east of Catarman, Northern Samar.

Forecaster Robb Gile said the weather disturbance is likely to intensify into a tropical depression in the next 12 hours. It will be locally named Salome.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon or “hanigng amihan” is affecting the weather over Northern and Central Luzon. /kga
